I saw a TikTok of a person wrapping her feet in aluminum foil, and I’m so confused. What’s with that? Why wrap feet in aluminum foil?

I read that it’s supposed to regulate your “meridians,” where energy flows through your body. You’re supposed to wrap it around the sore area and keep it on for up to 12 hours, and it’ll ease pain and speed up healing.
Wrapping feet is supposed to help with cold and flu. Apparently, you put a bandage or cotton (socks will probably do) on your feet and then wrap that up in 5 to 7 layers of foil for an hour, remove and wait for 2 hours, then repeat that process twice, and your symptoms will get better.
Not sure I believe it though :/
Yeah… don’t do that. I mean, putting some cotton or bandage will help, but your feet will still sweat, and the salt in sweat plus aluminum is a bad idea.
Aluminum can react to the salt in our skin, break down, and get absorbed in our skin.
Aluminum is a heavy metal that your body doesn’t need. In fact, it can hurt you. It can act as a neurotoxin and could inhibit over 200 metabolic processes inside the body. In the long run, if any aluminum toxicity gets stored in your body, it can increase your risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
Maybe the OP was talking about wrapping feet in aluminum foil in winter? Didn’t really give many details about the context of wrapping feet in aluminum foil.
Anyway, some people wrap their feet in aluminum foil in winter to keep their feet warm – I know some bikers who do this. They put on socks and wrap them in a single crinkled sheet of aluminum foil, maybe even put another sock before putting in their shoes.
Aluminum is reflective, so it just gives you back the thermal energy or heat to you – most of it, aluminum is also a conductor, so you will lose some heat too. The rule is; if the aluminum is in direct contact with you, the heat will move through the foil, and you lose it (conduction), but if you have some space and air in between you and the foil, the foil will be able to reflect your heat and keep you warm (reflection).
