It’s important for every dog owner to have their dogs on leash when going out for an outdoor activity. A leash is good for security reasons out there. It’s also good for the pet itself and for people as well as other pets. It’s important to let your dog off leash in a controlled environment for a while if it has had the right training and discipline.
But sometimes a dog will go off it’s leash by accident or design and you want to get it back.
The least effective way of getting it back to the chain is running after it. It is a classical error most people do but it does not work. The dog will think you are playing by running to it and it will run even faster, and you know you cannot outrun a dog. Running after it is not a smart move to do.
The best way is to do the opposite of running after it, run to the opposite direction away from it calling it’s name. It’s a matter of making the dog chase you. Pretending to have fallen also works well with it. It will come back to you.
