I read “shelf bra” on a clothing description and was confused. What is a ” shelf bra”?

A shelf bra is basically a built-in bra. They only cover about a third or half the breast. They also don’t have any cups, instead, they have layers and pads that go under your breasts. So instead of a cup clasping your breasts towards your body, the shelf bra pushes your breasts upward by supporting the lower part of it.
If you’ve ever had a camisole, tank top, or swimwear that had a built-in bra, that’s most probably a shelf bra because that’s where shelf bras are commonly used in.
