I’m self-studying Korean Language, and I’m confused with the many ways you can say “yes” in Korean.
I’ve encountered 예, 응, 네, 어 so far and that’s not even all of the “yesses,” haha.
I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me differentiate each. TIA!
I could see how that can be confusing, but think of it this way, it’s the same as Yes, Yeah, Okay in English.
예 (Ye) – though this sounds like “Yeah” which is informal for “Yes,” 예 (Ye) is actually the formal “Yes.”
네 (Ne) – this is the standard way of saying yes. It’s polite, so you can use it in pretty much any situation.
응 (Eung)/ 어 (Eo) – basically translates to just nods lol and it is really informal so only use this with your close friends (same age or younger)
