I’m asked by a colleague to write him a Letter of Recommendation. I’ve never written one, so I’m not sure how it should be. I do have an idea of what I should put in there, but how long does it have to be? The longer the better? TIA!

A writer is someone who writes. It can be a profession, but it doesn’t have to be. The qualities of a writer can be hard to define because there are so many things that writers do.
The qualities of a good writer vary from person to person and depend on what they write about, but there are some general guidelines you can follow if you want to become a better writer or improve your skills as one.
Just long enough to show that you know the person you’re recommending and the reason you’re endorsing them. One or two paragraphs are too short for this, so it’s generally best to write more than two paragraphs or 300-400 words, but not more than one page.
