I keep seeing “Ara Ara” videos on TikTok. I know it’s a Japanese/Anime thing but what does it actually mean? Is it even a real word?

“Ara/ Ara-ara” can mean a lot of things in Japan since they have several different languages/ dialects.
“Ara” or “Ara-ara” can be a name of a fish or a person’s surname or the word for “roughness,” “rudeness,” “harshness,” or “wildness.”
But the “Ara-ara” you’re talking about most probably is the interjection that can be translated to “Oh!”, “Ah!”, “My my”, “Oh dear”, or “Oh me, oh my” – basically to express surprise or amusement. This use of “Ara-ara” is a feminine interjection that is usually used in Anime in a flirtatious or seductive way.
