The only pictures of stars I see are basically pictures of the Milky Way or galaxies, but there are not many close-up pictures of stars, no? What does a star look like up close?

Wikipedia defines the word “star” as “an astronomical object consisting of a luminous spheroid of plasma held together by its own gravity.”
Basically, a star is an extremely hot massive ball of gas – and it looks just like that, too.
This is our Sun, Sol. Sol is massive compared to Earth, but it’s considered an average-sized star. For visualization, you can fit about one million Earth in our Sun.
