There is no wrong or right answer to this – there are pros and cons to both. Here are some I can think of:

Pros of proposing before dinner:

• You can consider the dinner as a celebration, which makes the dinner more meaningful and you have more time to really savor the moment.
• You get the deed done right away, so you can relax the rest of the date.
• Again, you still have lots of time before the day ends, so you can even call family and friends and celebrate with them.

Cons of proposing before dinner:

• If the meal is expensive and you’re rejected, then you can’t enjoy the meal.
• Earlier = less time to prepare.

Pros of proposing after dinner:

• You’ve already enjoyed the dinner.
• You have more time to prepare.
• If dining outside, you get to leave the restaurant immediately and go somewhere else to celebrate.

Cons of proposing after dinner:

• You may not be able to enjoy the meal fully since you’re too nervous or excited (hopefully excited)

Only you can answer this question, and make sure that whatever your plan is, you’ve considered the personality of your loved one. Will she appreciate the attention of a public proposal or will that scare her? Are they more agreeable when full? (then you should really propose after dinner haha)
