I came across some pasta recipes for weight loss, and it got me confused – aren’t pasta carbs and supposed to make you fat?

Definitely – pasta can make you fat IF you eat too much of it – just like any other food (carbs especially).
But apparently, with the right diet, pasta can even help you lose weight.
According to this study by Canadian researchers at St. Michael’s Hospital, the low glycemic index of pasta (along with a low-glycemic index diet) made people lose around half a kilo (0.5kg or 1.1lb) in a span of about 12 weeks.
Dr. John Sievenpiper, the lead author, stated that “The study found that pasta didn’t contribute to weight gain or increase in body fat.”
And, “In fact, analysis actually showed a small weight loss. So contrary to concerns, perhaps pasta can be part of a healthy diet such as a low GI diet.”
Interesting, right?
