I saw a TikTok hinting a difference between the two but didn’t really go into it. What’s the difference between a dwarf and a midget? Can someone please enlighten me?

Both the words “midget” and “dwarf” are used to call short or little people.
Technically, “midget” pertains to the people who, although short, has head and limbs proportionate to their body.
A “dwarf,” on the other hand, is a human with a medical condition called “dwarfism” that makes them only 58 inches tall or less even as an adult and have disproportion of body parts.
These days, the term “midget” is considered to be offensive.
I don’t know any person that has dwarfism but, Warwick Davis, an actor and the President of LPUKOnline (charity for people with dwarfism), tweeted that “The use of the word ‘midget’ is not appropriate and is considered very offensive if targeted at someone with dwarfism. It’s use is best avoided in all circumstance. Thank you” – so there’s that.
Oh, I see. Thank you so much for enlightening me!
