I saw a video of a man flashing light at the night sea, and the light just basically disappears because of how dark the night sea is, then I thought of this question – Can fishes see in the dark? Do they have night vision?
All fish have some level of night vision, just some. Aside from that, they also have rows of pressure-sensitive organs on each side of their body called the lateral line. The lateral line allows fishes to sense vibration, movement, and pressure which tells them if there is something in their surrounding.
Back to your question – yes, fish can see in the dark, to what degree and even spectrum of light they can see depends on what species the fish is.
