A rock is a really big stone, and a stone is a small rock – as confusing as that sounds, it’s true, lol.
Several stones can combine and make a rock.
Stones can be made from trimmings of rocks.
A rock is a huge and solid matter that is made of smaller stones and is a part of the Earth’s crust. Rocks can be both soft and hard, depending on the different minerals that formed them.
A stone, on the other hand, is a small substance made of combinations of minerals. Unlike rocks, stones can only be hard.
The rule of thumb is – if it’s immovable, it’s a rock. If you can carry or pelt it with ease, it’s a stone.
