A friend is, sadly, confined at a hospital, and she sent me a pic of her vital signs monitor. I saw HR and immediately thought of Human Resources (can’t blame me). What does HR stand for in medical terms?

There are other HRs in the medical world, but since you mentioned vital signs monitor, the HR you’re asking about would most probably mean Heart Rate.
There’s also:
Hospitalization Rate
Hazard Ratio
Hormone Receptor
Histamine Release
