I’m pretty new to the anime world and am still ignorant to most of the references or terms used on the internet. Just learned what “ara ara” meant the other day. Today I encountered “BL,” and I’m lost. What does it mean?

B = Boy’s/ Boys
L = Love
As you can probably tell from there, it’s a genre where there are romantic or sexual relationships between boys or men.
The term is considered a “Wasei-eigo” or Japanese-language expression based on English words.
The actual Japanese word for it would be either be “Yaoi” for BL that contains sexual scenes, or “Shounen-ai” for BL that focuses more on romance.
