I just enrolled in a music class yesterday. I know how half note, whole note looks like but, I am always confused with a quarter. What does a quarter look like in terms of music?

Hi!
I think “quarter note” is what you mean.
Quarter note looks like a filled-in half note, with the same stem attached. You hold it for one full count, which is a quarter of a whole note.
