Depends on what basketball it is.

An NBA basketball game consists of four 12 minute periods.

An NCAA men’s basketball game has two periods that last 20 minutes each.

A FIBA basket and women’s NCAA basketball game has four 10 minute periods.

A high school basketball game could be four 8 minute periods.

In four-period games, there are short breaks between the first and second period and between the third and fourth period, then a longer break between the second and third period called the halftime break. In NCAA men’s basketball, they only get a halftime break.

Here you go.

First, if your bong isn’t already clean, clean it.

Second, fill the bong with water – how much water will depend on the bong, but pouring an inch above the tip of the long tube of glass that sticks into the bong or the downstem is usually the way to go. Pour the water through the open part at the top of the bong, which is the mouthpiece.

Third, if it isn’t already, grind your cannabis. Then, put some larger pieces at the bottom of the bong bowl (the funnel-shaped piece that sits outside the downstem) and pack the finely ground cannabis on top. Don’t pack it too tight, leave enough space for air to pass through. Stir it with something thin if you made it too compact. Also, don’t put a lot if you’re smoking alone. Pack half-full first and add as needed.

Fourth, put your mouth on the mouthpiece quite tightly so that it’s sealed and the smoke doesn’t come out. Then, light the bong bowl. Only burn a portion or the edge of the cannabis in the bowl so it lasts longer.

Fifth, with your mouth still sealing the mouthpiece, inhale slowly – this will make the smoke come up the bong but not escape. Once the bong is cloudy inside, stop lighting the cannabis in the bowl.

Sixth, pull the bowl out of the downstem. At this point, you still have your mouth on the mouthpiece, and you can smoke directly.

That’s it. You’re smoking through a bong.

If you can’t inhale all the smoke all at once, cover the mouthpiece with something, even your hand, so the smoke doesn’t escape, and you can inhale it for later.

When smoking, only hold the smoke in your lungs for 2 to 3 seconds, then exhale – holding it there for long is worse for your health, and it won’t even make you higher.

When you need more smoke, place the bong bowl in the stem and relight the cannabis.

Clean your bong when done.
