I just lost my retainer, and I can only get back to my dentist after a month for some reason. I’d like to avoid getting new retainers from another dentist if possible, so I want to know how bad it would be to not wear retainers for a month, cause if it’s serious then I’d consider going to a new dentist. Thanks in advance!

My dentist told me that our teeth are actually almost always shifting, and so if you don’t wear your retainer for a long time, your teeth will change back to their original positions, and your bite will be different. If your retainer can still fit, then it means your teeth are still okay, and you should wear your retainer as soon as you can. But if you can’t fit them anymore or really when you have any doubts about it, you shouldn’t try to wear them again because you can do more harm. Really, if you can, just visit your dentist for any dental health questions.
