While casually scrolling through my FB feed, I read that Japanese isn’t the official language in Japan. Lost the post that mentioned this so I couldn’t read more. Is this true?

Japanese has no official status in Japan! It is argued that because everything – all education, media, business, and the government is conducted in Japanese, and since the Japanese language is the most widely spoken language in the country, they didn’t really bother making it official. Although there is no law explicitly stating that the official language of Japan is Japanese, their Court Law stipulates that the language used in court shall be Japanese.
