Skateboard is easier for me because there’s much more balancing involved in riding a RipStik.
I tried learning both, but I went for RipStik (we call it waveboard where I am, but it’s essentially the same).
I just felt more free in a waveboard. On a skateboard, I could only ride straight or turn left lmao. I can’t turn right for some reason. They say skateboards are more stable, but I find that moving on a waveboard helps me maintain my balance better.
I don’t do tricks, I just casually ride around so, I guess waveboards suit me. I also enjoy the weaving movement, it makes me feel more active.
If you want to do tricks, definitely go for skateboards.
