Pull towards yourself instead of trying to push your opponent’s arm down. That angle will be easier for you and harder for your opponent, naturally giving you the leverage. Also, start hard. Don’t give your opponent the chance to gain momentum. Dragging the game longer also causes fatigue, so you’ll lose some strength (though your opponent will, too)
