Have you ever wondered how many seconds are in a year?
A leap year has 366 days and a normal year has 365 days. The difference is in the month of February. In a leap year, the month of February has 29 days while in a normal year February has 28 days.
A leap year appears at an interval of 4 years. For instance year 2000 was a leap year and so the next leap year was 2004, and then 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, on and on.
Now, if you want to know the total number of seconds in one leap year, you multiply the total number of seconds in one day (24 hours) by the total number of days in that year.
So,
Total number of seconds in a day is 24 hours x 60minutes x 60 seconds = 86,400 seconds.
So to get the total number of seconds per leap year: 86400×366= 31,622,400
36,622,400 is the number of seconds in a leap year.
For a shorter year you will multiply seconds per day by 365 days.
