I saw someone on Insta eat raw shrimp, and that’s just something very new to me. Is that even safe to eat? Can you eat raw shrimp?

Can you eat raw shrimp? Yes. Is that considered safe? No.
Shrimps can harbor bacteria, viruses, and parasites that could lead to food poisoning or illnesses – especially to those with weakened immune systems and when the shrimps are mishandled. So, if you eat raw shrimp, you’ll risk getting symptoms like vomiting, stomach cramps, fever, and diarrhea, or even catching a fatal illness.
Sushi and sashimi dishes are prepared by knowledgeable chefs, so if the raw shrimps are prepared by them, there’s most probably less risk. Some restaurants even keep the ingredients alive until it’s time to cook/serve so they’re as fresh as safe as can be. Maybe the girl on your capture bought the shrimps from a trusted restaurant/seller. Although, if you’re preparing the shrimp yourself, make sure to cook them properly.
